ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS                       

Even though I said the amount of time I needed ( 4 hours and a half ) I've been told just a few minutes before my assessment started that I instead I could only have 3 hours and a half. I understand the reason however I would of prefer to know it before, so I could make some changes on my program and design. I just though if I realize I won't finish everything I planned on time, to improvise a more simple design on arms and legs, but I definitely wanted to keep face, front and back trunk as they were. It is in fact what happened : I managed to do face, front trunk and back trunk the way I wanted but I had to improvise a different and quicker design on arms and legs, however some of the original elements has still been incorporated. The real issue of my exam was that I bought the wrong airbrush paint.. I totally didn't realize it was not meant to be for professional body-painting, and as a consequence I was not aloud to use it anymore ( due to health and safety regulation ) even if I did a makeup test with it in the studio 1 week before and it was just fine. Obviously next time I'll be definitely more aware of the ingredients that each of my products contains to avoid similar situation in the future and for my model safety. Kindly, my tutors provided with some temptu airbrush paint. Here was another issue : the colors were much lighter and harder to spray, as I didn't practice with them this was not a nice surprise. The color had to be sprayed at least twice to achieve a nice result, and the projection was much smaller than the other paint I used. It seemed to me it was more adapt for details. I airbrushed the face but It would of take me ages to do the entire body and I didn't have that kind of time. The only solution I had in my hand at this point was to paint the entire body with green aquacolor ( which i also mixed with some yellow ). I had to do it quickly and the result was as perfect as it could of been with a nice airbrush job, but overall I must say I liked the effect because it makes it more of a tribal look somehow. I then applied my silicone chakras, my silicon plant and as a last minute I decided to not apply my other two prosthetics anymore because with the change of skin base color and paint technique they would of look too random. It was now time to paint everything as quick as possible. The product I used to cover tattoo didn't react too well with aquacolor ( it was supposed to be covered with airbrush, and the one I tested on was pretty good, but it wasn't water based like some bodypainting airbrush paints are so probably it wouldn't react too good even with those temptu products that I decided to not use at the end) so I didn't touch it too much thinking to re-touch just at the end and for photoshoot. The wig was perfect size for my model, and I applied the fake eyelashes. My model was provided with silicone nipple covers ( from ebay ) and cotton skin color nickers. And of course a blanket to keep her warm. I totally didn't expect all those problems to happen but I managed to finish the entire body painting, I think it looked good even if not as much as I wanted, and afterall last minute changes and problem solving are also part of the make-up artist job, which must learn how to deal with pressure and be able to find quick solutions, which I think I managed to. My photographer, Kàska Trajdors, an aub photography student , did a pretty good job. She took some pictures on the make-up studio and then we went to a small forest just 5 minutes driving from university ( she has a car ) to get some wild looking picture. My model, a part time actress called Laura Hardie also did an excellent job, she was very good at posing, I knew that because I've been working with her before.
